The goal is to decentralize full node software so no single group can push through contentious changes.
Spinning up multiple nodes doesnβt do much. The important steps are to run your own node and hash with your own miner. And speak out when you see overreach.

As I mentioned earlier, it's a work in progress. So not sure how much effort you want to put into trying to get it running on your own hardware. From some podcasts I listened to it might be a couple more years before they think it's production ready.
The good news this chart depicts that nobody is talking about for this debate is that only 17% of node runners are staying up to date with the latest version of core.
