I have been thinking about what information in the intent age will look like when there is no meaningful amount of censorship (perhaps a future Internet built on nostr or something like it).
I think we will reenter a period where it will be critical to think critically about what information you decide to ingest. Parents are going to have to get a lot better at teaching their kids to think and communicate with people wiser than they are.
Excellent piece @Gigi π
Web of trust will be of increasing importance. I hope to write and/or speak about it soon.
Also: A lot of the #SovEng people are working on #WoT stuff.
"Do you have the courage to take control of your wealth, health, thoughts, and speech?"
The challenge is clear and so is the objective. Every time you speak on a centralized platform, free speech takes a step back.

Humans are so smart, yet so stupid.
If code is speechβ and code is speech. What is our responsibility in this affair?
So much respect to the protocol builders!
βWe are at a pivotal time in history. Never before was our civilization this connected, this global, and this unaware of its limitations and ignorance.β
The last big platform other than fiat I am very aware of participating/allowing to be taken advantage ofβ is LinkedIn. I really want to self de-platform but the notional Rolodex hook has me still hanging on. For now I remain part of the problem.
Gigiβs prose is next level. Easy reading font to boot. π
Thank you for the kind words π
Good luck with the next cohort. βοΈ
PROTOCOLS > PLATFORMS
"WHEN USING A PROTOCOL, YOUβRE NOT A USER IN THE TRADITIONAL SENSE. YOU ARE A SPEAKER. YOU SPEAK THE SAME LANGUAGE AS OTHER PEOPLE, AND IF SOMEONE ELSE CAN HEAR AND UNDERSTAND YOU, THERE IS A CONNECTION. THERE IS NO FACILITATOR IN BETWEEN. THE LANGUAGE ITSELF IS THE FACILITATOR. LANGUAGES ARE PROTOCOLS AND PROTOCOLS ARE LANGUAGES. THEY DONβT HAVE USERS; THEY HAVE SPEAKERS." @Gigi

View quoted note βTremendous.
Make it an article post on nostr!
I will.
"Thatβs why Free Speech platforms cannot exist. Only Free Speech protocols can exist." To the Point.

Therefor, it makes no sense to speak to people living in their bubble their entire life. Why they are are in the bubble? Because the system want them to know as less as possible - one of the best examples is the financial system.

Beautifully and simply correct π€π§‘
a wonderfully written piece π
Thank you ππ§‘
Gigi doesn't say "Nostr" once in this piece, and yet almost every word has a purple halo. Excellent read. π

Because we think about the Greek ancients every day. π«

I don't use English; I speak English.
I don't use Bitcoin; I speak Bitcoin.
I don't use Nostr; I speak Nostr.

Good work bro
platform vs public space
For my own understanding, I put this in a physical realm thought experiment:
A public space is a square or agora, if u will.
A platform, letβs call it a stage, is build on such a public space.
People can speak or perform on the square or on the stage. One is permissionless the other is not. It doesnβt tell you anything about the quality of the speaker or performer, if they are on that stage, but it sure directs the attention.
Public spaces give anyone the option to speak or perform. That does not exempt them from consequences of that action of course.
The best part is: I decide to stay and listen or go somewhere else.
All can be said, that doesnβt mean you have to listen. Kind of like #nostr

Good post. I did not fall asleep while reading
Was it because you were asleep already?
That's when I do most of my reading
love this - thanks mate
The great Bitcoin and nostr synergy; Protocols, not platforms. A protocol is just a language, no need for a middlemen. A platform facilitates the communication, thus they can censor and corrupt as they please.
It's time we learn how to talk again. Talk the language of remote communciation and the language of value transfer. The middleman that current assist us "talking" have failed us, and will continue to do so.
