I have been thinking about what information in the intent age will look like when there is no meaningful amount of censorship (perhaps a future Internet built on nostr or something like it). I think we will reenter a period where it will be critical to think critically about what information you decide to ingest. As an interpreter, other people's words and ideas have passed through my hands for the Deaf, and past by my lips for the Hearing. Through me, others lie, manipulate, mourn, joke, laugh, flirt, and fight. I've done this as a neutral actor - my own emotions & thoughts are sublimated so that others' thoughts/ideas are seen, are heard - they enter the realm of the Real; giving people agency. Censorship is anethma to free people. To censor language is to censor the mind. To censor math is to censor a priori knowledge. And so, We're not asking permission. We're taking our place.

platform vs public space For my own understanding, I put this in a physical realm thought experiment: A public space is a square or agora, if u will. A platform, let’s call it a stage, is build on such a public space. People can speak or perform on the square or on the stage. One is permissionless the other is not. It doesn’t tell you anything about the quality of the speaker or performer, if they are on that stage, but it sure directs the attention. Public spaces give anyone the option to speak or perform. That does not exempt them from consequences of that action of course. The best part is: I decide to stay and listen or go somewhere else. All can be said, that doesn’t mean you have to listen. The great Bitcoin and nostr synergy; Protocols, not platforms. A protocol is just a language, no need for a middlemen. A platform facilitates the communication, thus they can censor and corrupt as they please. It's time we learn how to talk again.
