ok, I'm a brand new non technical user, first heard of NOSTR in a libertarian chat on Telegram, a few months ago. Yesterday on X, Reason posted an article "Nostr is a community-run digital network highly resistant to censorship and corruption." It caught my attention, so I found and joined this new platform for me. My interest are Canadian libertarian politics, general economics, general trucking as I'm a simple truck driver for a living, the carnivore lifestyle for my health and my family is most important to me. As a non technical user, I must engage in my own learning curve and discover how I and this platform community can mutually benefit from my limited participation. Cheers

Welcome, I'm not techie either... Just start using it and figure the rest out as you go. Maybe put something in your profile about your interests and you'll get more followers... Biggest thing is to record you nsec in a safe place. That is your key to logging into your profile as you for all the various applications that nostr devs have made. Also never give out your nsec ID to anyone, anyone that has it can basically become you... You npub is your profile and your nsec is how you access it. Also consider getting a lightning wallet to be able to accept and send zaps!
This is why I'm putting together a book that covers the top 21 questions about Nostr, answered by some of the most knowledgeable people involved in it. A lot of new users will be coming here soon, and it will be very useful have a single book to point to, which answers all their questions, and then some more, without ever getting too technical.

it can be daunting for the non technical. as long as you guard your nsec you'll be ok. I find that following hashtags is a great way to find people to follow. #hashtags like #asknostr brings the helpful #nostriches #plebs & #devs out to answer questions. good luck and don't forget to #zap #smij #zapd
Hey Neal! Don't worry about not being technical. I'm technical and I can't understand what the hell is going on. But the basics are easy to grasp. Just hang around, follow a few people and then follow people they like. Works just like twitter, but a little less people and less diverse. But ultimately it's a great platform to train for the future.
Welcome. You can search hashtags to start building your feed. Nothing is suggested to you, so you have to go find what you wanna see and build it. The #grownostr tag is intended for anything non Bitcoin and to help build more diverse topics on here. Following that one would be my first suggestion.
Welcome. It takes some time. I'm far from technical but have been learning a lot from here about the technical aspects of it. Granted it's way over my head but you start picking up on it. Another cool thing is the people here who are the tech people have almost always been helpful for explaining things when you ask. It's a cool place and there is nontech content here as well
