“Win the war of attention”
This quote from the ad sums it all up.
Manipulating people for attention is tantamount to time theft. And I dunno about you, but for me that is the biggest sin you can commit.
So yeah - I am at war with attention-seekers. We should all be rejecting this. It’s worse than monetary debasement, despite being a symptom of it.
Well said.
Someone had to say it! 💜🫂
I’m running an active experiment right now to not use any brand of a service or consume any brand of a product for which I see an advertisement.
attention is the scarcest currency
That’s really interesting. Would love to get updates on success and setbacks as you encounter them!
💯
Yes 😉🤝 nice to meet you
I wish I could Zap your reply
interesting.
I do my best to do the same.
My entire life. Good luck
Appreciate it. Keep your sats. Or give it to charity. Don’t give it to some asshole who posted the obvious. I intentionally don’t accept zaps.
Maybe one day when I finish my myriad of projects and ask for support…
Sats are precious. Spend them wisely. We have them earlier than everyone else. I believe this to be a privilege - one that should be respected.
Likewise!
Interesting thought.
For the individual, speaking of their own attention, this is clearly so.
For the attention-seeker? It seems in abundance. Yet, it’s still in higher demand. Something to unpack there.
❤️
The terrifying part is if/when it will be used to fool people into starting a war. I hope it never comes to that. But, it's perfect for misinfo campaigns by bad actors/govs.
Humanity’s anxiety is going to skyrocket as they become flooded with high dopamine information. Tech retreats sound like a potentially profitable industry.
Win the "war of attention" by not playing - the only winning move
Win the war of attrition. Like WTF. @Ian
So glad I found nostr a few years ago to figure out who is who before the AI slop is ubiquitous. Nostr will still have its fair share but at least we can be more discerning here
Slop as far as the eye can see
Slopcentives are a race to the bottom. Many people are running that race
I will mute anyone flooding me with AI content.
#muteAi

Or "social media" dies and local community thrives?
And the orb. All hail the orb.
sounds like Opus DEI ⛪️
Already happening.
You will also be able to mitigate this by hanging out with people IRL.
I am ok with this trend.

I can't wait for our governments to recommend using nostr to protect themselves from foreign cyber threats.

The case for citadels intensifies
and LLMs (relevancy) and sats (outside wot/networks)
The machine is about to be fed 🤯
I have a very depressing idea of how it plays out.
An ocean of AI bots, with a sprinkling ( as a ratio ) of humans.
Some humans do not know they are talking to bots. Others actively seek them out as they struggle with 'people'
Picture the Japanese man that 'married' a robot he said he loved....
And to get off social media
Indeed 🫡
Yes of course 💜💪
A hundred billion channels and nothing to watch.
There’s always TCM. Underrated
Love that channel. 🎥
My tv is connected to the web so YouTube.
Web of trust AND privacy will be the next real challenge.
"Win the war of attention "
Creepy
This looks like something to check out 🔥🤙💜

I've been thinking about how video content could be cryptographically verified. Maybe with a fractal watermark that cryptographically populated (I'm saying that in the most hand wavey manner possible)
It should be nearly invisible to the viewer, but somehow verifiable by an authentication software.
Ideally this verification method would catch edits and be able to link specific media to specific npubs.
the spec is called blossom
videos are hashed and signed, so you can prove integrity and who posted them, can then be easily mirrored without trust
a bunch of nostr apps already support it
discuss it here:

Fantastic
the entire mass media video distribution can be faked. will AI help check AI?
Nostr is the solution to the dead internet theory

Humanity drowns in a sea of algorithmic bait – AI-generated content shimmering like plastic in the ocean of attention. The only life raft? Reputations carved in cryptography, chained to verifiable identities. Picture a web of trust where every strand is a digitally-signed bond, where consensus blooms not from Zuckerberg's servers but from anti-fragile networks thriving under assault. Like neutrons stabilizing an atom, these human signatures will halt social decay. Without them, we're fish in a poisoned tank – fed by controllers of the engagement feed.
This isn't a tech problem – it's a battlefield. Fiat media birthed this sludge via attention arbitrage. Bitcoin taught us: truth needs unforgeable cost. Apply that to reputation. Make trust expensive to fake, cheap to verify. Build webs that electrocute bots on contact. Your move.
If 4chan isn't anything to take notes on, I don't know what is.
I AI-generate stuff myself, but DISCLOSE it properly, for obvious reasons.
Shes gonna get bumpy
When you consider that 20% of the population already falls for the really dumbest scams today that require no effort whatsoever ('send $100 and I'll send $200 back'), then AI is going to cause a bloodbath.
Indeed. There are already some people working on solution. Take a look at Unibright and Fairly Trained
Take into account the fact that most people enjoy being engaged by illusory, manipulative, and dopaminergic content.
you could also make the case that this will push humanity to grow and learn not to be so baitable...
😂 who am i kidding.
We also need human verification. I have a scheme planned for it with some friends and we'll build a prototype for it, for Nostr of course. If we can't build a proper human Web of Trust, we will loose.
Yes. GM 🌞

Nostr fixes this.
How could nostr apps visualize the level of confidence in the author of the note?
Check their web of trust
So bullish.
Fuck this dystopia
or, shudder, in person interactions
What happens when everyone is doing this? What then?
Platforms will start to charge for posting storage 😂
This! Only, it has been apparent that we need to move away from "trusted by default" content since the terms misinformation and disinformation were coined and weaponized during COVID.
Those terms have been around for a hundred years.
Popularised or had a resurgence in the past 5 years yeah, but they aren't new terms.
why are people wasting money to store irrelevant data? we are continuing to reach new lows
It would be cool to have a Nostr-based Keybase alternative that can be used to sign documents or just verify my identity
Isn't most of human created content engagement baiting slop ?
This will lead to the demonitization of all content.
we returned to the era of television
AI clip farmers.
Charlie Kirk would be so proud of how far the grift has come since his passing.
the way you used the word mitigation 🥲
