Without a doubt .. there are heavy players on the scene. It's sort of a shame that retail never really got going. Even if retail bought and just stored on Swan/River/Strike ... we would have been in better shape. What is irksome, now, is the nonchalance of several podcasters and personalities that I follow. It can only be explained by their being "on the take." They're technically way more advanced than I am .. and yet ... not even motivated to address the issue with seriously . I would have expected a 3rd version of Node software by now .... promulgated by people who oppose Core but are no fans of Luke either. Maybe these are all the peeps running Core version <30 .. who actually constitute the overwhelming majority at this point in time.
It’s absolutely a permission granted by core devs. I honestly thought that was the point you were trying to make but obviously not. Anything that makes it harder for new users to run a node shouldn’t be ignored. Core and knots both have their issues, we need more options and non retarded users who don’t ignore attack vectors. You are actually make the exact same argument as csw but don’t seem to realize it, or you’re just as fucked up. Not really sure at this point
Its not a right. Here I just got finished tapping this out :

Wrong. Putting spam on bitcoin is not a "right." Since spam is hard to define, I'll put it like this : you don't have a right to make a financial transaction. You have a right to offer a transaction, and others have a right to refuse or not. So pay the miners and abide by the rules the node runners set forth. Or fuck off with your shitcoinery. Citrea doesn't depend on Op_return, they can use use unspendable taproot outputs instead and bloat the UTXO set, I think that's actually how it's currently implemented but haven't checked. You'll care about miners if there's only one or two big ones that no one can compete with and the State can just hijack to mine empty blocks. Bring able to estimate fees correctly is also pretty important. And aside from all this, if people actually wanted a viable alternative to Core and weren't just mindlessly following a renegade cult because it makes them feel good then they'd use libbitcoin not knots.
