@npub17lgy...9uux Amazon launched a generative AI recap video system, to help viewers catch up with TV shows …however … it got almost every detail wrong. Naw. They didn't get it wrong. They were attempting to be spoiler free! Amazon also launched Ask the Book so you can have the Kindle book tell you what happened, what you missed, and what you need so you can turn in that book report you forgot was do in high school lit tomorrow. Search for it; it's real, too... #writer #author #book #books #kindle #amazon #bookstodon #writingCommunity #writersOfMastodon #ai
@npub17lgy...9uux At the risk of being repetitive: Current “AI” is not AI. It is a hugely efficient and impressive system for retrieving and recombining correlated information from a humongous body of learned and massively cross-referenced data. But it’s not even close to being cognition or intelligence. The real danger is not that it will become super-intelligence — it won’t and can’t — but that its venal and mendacious vendors will continue to tout it as such, and that it will as a result be entrusted with tasks that even genuine cognition and intelligence cannot undertake safely without massive checks and balances from other responsible intelligences.
