Iβm really liking the distinct Nostr experience vs the Twitter experience. Occasionally I cross-post something on both, but my decision in recent weeks to treat them differently has been very rewarding.
Years ago, I used to post on certain forums. But as someone with a big Twitter following now, I am more self-conscious of what I post there these past few years. Itβs like, I feel quite a responsibility before I send something out to 600k followers, rather than being able to treat it rather carefree like I would treat a forum in the old days. Of course, once in a while I get provoked by something or I share something random and funny for no reason, but not usually.
Since the community on Nostr is still smallish, it kind of rekindles that more carefree feeling of just posting, talking. And I post less about economics, which is my main Twitter silo.
And because I want open protocols like Nostr to succeed, I deliberately want to be here, posting. So it is a win-win; I try to add value but also it scratches an itch for me that hasnβt been scratched in a while.
Maybe if/when Nostr becomes large, it will recreate that sense of filtering that I have on Twitter. But I would still consider that a success, because it means Nostr succeeded and I at least got to experience a smaller social environment for another period of time.

I get it, but How do u delete a post on nostr if you realize itβs not what you actually wanted to express?
Reply with the correction or disclaimer
you deal with it in the same way you would deal with something you said in real life that you later realized you didn't mean to.
Ya itβs not rockit surgery.
This might or might not work. The relays can accept a delete request, but they can't be compelled to act on it:
Publish Nostr Event Deletions!
Publish Nostr Event Deletions.

You dont control the past. There is no practical delete. You recognize the discrepancy and for anything significant, write a reply to that note indicating any corrections/adjustments just like real life.
The only client I believe is Iris.to that's let's you delete posts. :)
itβs ok to make mistakesπ«
π riiiiiigggggggtttttttt.....
Actually nostr supports event deletion via NIP-09.
Not many clients support it, though.

Snort
Snort - Nostr
Snort is a feature-packed, decentralized social media client built on Nostr protocol. Fast, censorship-resistant, and open source.
Make another post below, expressing what you actually wanted to say.
Yeah, but will Iris delete a post across all clients using Nostr? Everywhere? I wonder...
You just wait for it to perhaps randomly disappear and reappear. And wish it stays lost in cyberspace.
Nope
Yes it does delete them from all clients, well it used to I have done it many times on my personal profiles, not recently though.
I like this.
Nostr for the win!
Let the #shitpoting begin.

if you get that sense of filtering on nostr just create an anonymous second id.
We need to get rid of follower counts I think and replace it with something better
*network effect intensifies*
I consider every sat vanished a blessing in the world of unlimited debt. Every sat we stack together as a #Nostr community will be considered in truthful hands. What bitcoin was in the early days is now #Nostr. And what #Nostr will become is what #Bitcoin now is. Few will understand this.
Why do you think we let the size of our following dictate what and how we say it?
Serious question.
Are we not displaying the child to adult relationship?
As a child we say whatβs on our mind, what we genuinely feel, the raw truth whether we think people will hear it or not, like it or not. As an adult we become accustomed and trained to only say things that we think will make people like us and only what we think will make others think we are smart.
Would the world not be a better place if we all posted like we had small followings and not large ones? Would that not free is to get to the truth and live authentic and more free lives?
How do we ride the fear of being true to who we are and posting what we believe regardless of the size of our following?
YES LYN YES!π«ππ«
Iβve been off all social media for a while now, and my limited experience Here I feel the same vibe.
Care free is a good way of putting it. I have been surprised how different it feels here. Until now I had not fully appreciated how repressive I have found the X milieu and now there always felt like there was a dark undercurrent pulling at us.
I love nostr Lyn. Have been following your work for a while but the presentation was always very professional and I was not able to see the person behind the articles.
Great to be here and discover that you are not only smart and insightful but also a wonderful human.
Post it away Lyn :)
It's funny how that works
A lot of people feel this way

Ans some random things you shared are pure gold.
how does this have so few likes?
if it wasnt for nostr we never would have crossed paths, such is real freedom tech
make some nyms and let loose girl
Heard Alanis say something similar about . . . fame. She thought it would help her connect with more people, but actually proved an impediment to authentic connection.
It's great that we can read whatever comes to your mind under this format! More people doing it would make it much more interesting!
I hope to mint my bitcoinNFT art soon. I'm not there yet but when I do, it'll be an experience. My art can support bitcoin and Nostr but I'll need support to do that. 38 cents isn't cutting it. But 38 cent is still an experience
BitcoinNFT is a responsibility.
Freedom of expression is a human right. Absolute free speech is the best thing in US constitution

So good to read your posts here. Twitter is getting less and less rewarding to use.
iβm hanging out more on nostr just because I really appreciate the backstories you share. thank you!
π
What do you mean by back stories? I don't seem to see much of this on my feed. I love peoples back story, but a lot is private and archaic.
Totally agree!!
I love Nostr because I can follow people such as you that add value to my time spent on social media without an algorithm forcing the more divisive and outlandish stuff at my face. I just need to figure out how to use it better and use Lightning to make it feel more authentic and rewarding for the people I follow and who may end up following me.
Iβm a social media lurker and getting to see a more uncensored version of your content is great.
I donβt have much to contribute but I wanted to express my gratitude for your presence on here and twitter.
Agree, feels more organic over here.
