well, this is stupid. must have been a decent sized payment too because i have a good amount of channel liquidity. honestly this is a great reminder that the average person will never use lightning in a non-custodial way. no one wants to dick around with balancing channels all the time. people just want to send and receive bitcoin fast and cheap. image

Seems like it would be a good idea for them to add an auto rebalance feature to keep a desired amount of inbound liquidity on each channel. Idk. I've run 5 lightning nodes in the past, and currently just use @Rizful.com and am happy with it. I use LN for small payments, I don't particularly care if someone else fascilitates the transactions for me.

There should be an option to send payment on chain for situations like this. Honestly if it was a payment larger than my inbound liquidity I would prefer it on chain...

This email is triggered when someone requests a BOLT11 invoice from your Hub that exceeds your total receiving capacity. However, only the payer knows whether the payment intent is genuine. Do you typically receive payments with an amount higher than your current receiving capacity?

you are right, running a lightning node is very difficult! its nothing for the average bitcoin guy, but instead you can use lightning wallets which provide you with just one channel could be automated to adjust the cap. of the channel like phoenix is doing it. but still its a little harder tool then a blink or WoS
Whenever you're ready for permissionless, private, practical and simple payments, #Monero is ready for you.

It literally takes 1 confirmation to buy inbound liquidity.

Yeah it's pretty tragic, private non custodial lightning is DOA. Only viable options are LSP based wallets like Phoenix with JIT 0conf channels which open new channels when you recieve large payments. Costs a lot in fees though and you have minimal privacy from ACINQ. Its that or your risk loss of funds, censorship, freezing etc. with custodial solutions. All have horrible privacy other than ecash too.
