I saw this video, it has animals, so... yes it's kind of my "expertise". Also, it's not GENERALLY correct and for every case or in MY CASE at least. Let me explain. I ve never had a popular account in neither social media. I ve only participated casually on various social media, following political content until I decided to have an account dedicated to wildlife and nature, with presence in all social Media. I've discovered Nostr through a post of @Ian Carroll on X about the genocide in Palestine. I ve tried other alternative social media in the past (Minds, bluesky, mastodon etc) and yes Nostr ecosystem seems more alive, BUT this is were the good things end WHEN it comes to social media experience and engagement - not other applications of the Nostr protocol. Why GENERALLY: But because all the mainstream social media give you ways to have a tailored experience. Take X for example. You have lists, you can ban keywords etc. it's your choice whether to get involved in the mess or to use this (and every) social media for your own benefit. OFCOURSE more people will bring more noise, even here! IF NOT then why does this this question "Do we need everyone in Nostr", keeps circulating? Why SPECIFICALLY for my type of content: Let's make a small comparison, until now: 👉 Nostr: 306 notes, 27 followers (bots or not, I don't know), minimum engagement. 👉 X: 420 posts, 48 followers (at least half are, obviously, bots), little engagement but it's ok - even accounts with 10k followers bother to like, or reply, or even follow! 👉 Instagram: 45 posts, 10 followers, enough likes for the few posts I ve done there. 👉 Threads: fewer posts than here, 15 followers, a lot of engagement - especially in that social media, you take the feel that people are really interested in your content. 👉 TikTok: fewer posts than here, 54 followers, 1570 likes, lots of comments. So what's the take? 1. Comparing with X (which is usually the case here): X: a lot of similar accounts with many followers, I m a beginner, there is little engagement. Nostr: 1 (one) only account and that's @Otis, with similar content - as far as I know - BUT nobody really cares about this "field" 😅. So little engagement as well, and even less. 👉 "So it's the same", you would say. BUT NO. In my case, I had to use Primal: a) because I m not good in technicalities b) It felt right to have an exclusive handle name. c) Primal has algorithm - if I get it right. Whereas most of the Nostr clients are proud not to have algo, Primal has. And someone "unknown" who needs to establish engagement in a topic far less people are interested, yes, that guy needs an algo. So @primal is the only app I m paying right now from all the social media I am using and I have less engagement even than X 😅😅. 2. For my kind of interest, the other social media are not a "zoo" in the way it's refered in the video, kind of the opposite. Instagram for example is a paradise of wildlife and nature photos and videos. Second comes TikTok. Especially Instagram's content is really amazing. In other matters, as non KYC or privacy etc, Nostr can have certainly some kind of pride, yes. But when it comes to crude engagement, if you don't find interest in the topics that 99% of the people find here, you have to bring with you followers from some other social media, or else you really need an algorithm. IN MY CASE I don't seek money, but I want to engage with people who like the same content as me. I can't just leave all the other social media and stay here. 😅 I found interest in this Nostr protocol thing, this is why I m staying, for now. But I don't really need it, tbh. That's all folks.
