So this whole “nostr decentralization” is just a distraction?
My take is that freedom of speech is the fundamental issue that Nostr addresses and Bitcoin is the distraction.
Indeed, Nostr was always about censorship resistance and it's all the core protocol provides.
New users find most posts about Bitcoin and leave if they're not as obsessed with it, because it distracts them from the benefits of Nostr.

The discrete, user signed packet of structured data is the innovation.
The ability to reference other packets or authors by a globally unique ID is the innovation.
Zaps are an application of the base innovation of Nostr. Otherwise simple lightning payments would have had the same emergent effects, but it didn't.

i like Sats, but in most countries Sats are harder to get by than regular platform tokens such as TikTok flowers, lions, etc.., which you can get with a normal online payment

Yet, although its 2025 this primitive setup + 20-25 accounts on 3-4 different platforms is the #1 technology used by streamers that make +200k/yr to fight mid-stream account suspension
