The profits (which are about $5/book) from the first 1,000 copies of Broken Money are going to the HRF Bitcoin Development Fund. I think I will put the profits from copies 2,000-5,000 into making a slick animated YouTube video about the history of money and banking and the emergence of Bitcoin (basically the 30-minute summary of Broken Money). Kind of like Dalioโ€™s โ€œHow the Economic Machine Worksโ€ video. A popular 500 page finance book can reach tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands of people. But an equivalent video, while not as deep, has the potential to reach millions as a different part of the knowledge funnel. Because, I dunno. Fuck profits I guess. The rest of my business covers profits; the book is for a different purpose. image

I love how you're thinking on & approaching this. I suspect that getting more people to understand how broken the money is, has a greater long return for you than the book sales anyway. One of the aspects I love about Bitcoin is how it aligns our actions. Maybe I should buy your book & have a crack at putting together this animation.
As long as somehow you mention that the money is a representation of the time, brainpower and hard work people put in to earn it. Money in a vacuum is nothing. It's directly linked to free thought and commerce. That said, Broken Money makes me think of the stress those who've earned it are going through. Society free market is suffering. I look forward to checking it out.

Great book. The control of the ledger angle is a unique and fascinating perspective. Heard you say on โ€˜What Bitcoin Didโ€™ that you have been to Bretton Woods. I live in NH and have stayed at the Mt. Washington Hotel a few times. It is beautiful there and for those who donโ€™t know, the meeting room is preserved as it was with pictures if the attendees on the walls. Still find it strange that the baton passing of the reserve currency took place in my backyard.
