What's a clever way of asking if someone online is a dude or a dudette, without actually asking? I'm thinking of a poll where it would be relevant, but feel like directly asking would be annoying. The reason for the question is because different psychologies would tend produce different results. This is probably always the case, so having a stock question would be convenient. Ideas?

This sounds like an intent to manipulate.
Why not just put the idea or information out there as it is?
I stated why. I'm not holding a secret meeting with lizard people trying to manipulate - I put it out here. It prevents manipulation.
Ok. But I genuinely donβt understand how losing a part of anonymity - oneβs gender - enables the truth? I see the truth as idempotent and immutable.
A person's gender or sexuality really shouldn't matter much on internet spaces unless you're trying to hook up somehow.
I'm not. Its a matter of psychology.
Isn't psychology just manipulation in a fancy coat?
How do you know we arenβt lizard people?
Whoβs going to answer yes to a βare you a manipulator?β question?
Are you trying to manipulate me into admitting I'm a manipulator?
Depends on the person practicing it. I do think some people who are in the profession of therapy are themselves psychopaths. But there are also people who just want to have a clearer picture of the world and recognize that the primary factor in our experience of the world is the unconscious. Psychology is probably the most important thing anyone can know, especially in fields like economics, education, architecture, and policy making.
Manipulation has become such a part of debating and arguing these days that one could be forgiven for doing so when they have nothing but good intentions.
We live in a world of lies and disinformation. I have been following and chatting with Comte enough to give him the benefit of the doubt.
And so I just point out what I believe to be a dangerous act. Thereβs no accusations of ill intent in my meaning.
Are you trying to manipulate me into admitting that I'm manipulating you into admitting you're a manipulator?

I agree. Itβs important to understand peoples understanding.
I grow concerned about the usage of this knowledge, tho. It can start out innocent enough, but before you know it one is crafting messages design to invoke an emotional reaction rather than to spread truth.
It feels wiser to just put the truth in the open and let humans be human.
Oh I can just ovary up and admit it. I'll manipulate you and I think you'd like it π«¦

True dat
Aha! Now we're getting to the truth!
No, I wont like it.
