This one is only half retarded. They got rear-ended by the truck and "woke up" on the tracks with a train coming. That part wasn't their fault. The no-excuse part is hitting any button other than that flat one on the right side of the floor to clear a train. Also, @Gowron taught me that if you're going to jeopardize a train full of people, at least restore your family's honor by getting back in the car.
The human brain is a very slow processor with a massive cache. No model in cache for this? Full retarded. No big deal with no time pressure, step back and figure it out. Add time pressure and everything goes out the window. There is nothing to prepare you for getting in a car accident besides getting in a few. I have been in the car with an otherwise intelligent person who was unharmed in the accident, ran out of the car into traffic and almost got ran over and killed. Challenge your thinking at all times. What would I do if? It is an easy way to fill that cache with experiences you haven't had yet so you don't panic if they do happen. You cannot be so smart that you never panic. Panic is just a cache miss with time pressure. You can only add real world experience and mental rehearsals to reduce the number of scenarios where you don't have a cached solution.
So many people here on nostr are judging… how clear is your mind when you suddenly get rear ended and see yourself on a traintrack with a train approaching. Judging while not having all the information is such a disgusting trait, plebs!
