Why is it that other Nostr apps are getting away with it and Damus is being singled out?
This is surprising. I thought that since Apple lost this court case -- https://www.reuters.com/sustainability/boards-policy-regulation/us-judge-rules-apple-violated-order-reform-app-store-2025-04-30/ -- that this sort of behavior was going away?
that just allowed us to link to external payment methods in app, not necessarily add the zap button back. we tried just to see what would happen
What about the Primal approach for allowing in-app zap too-up purchases (for those that _want_ to pay Apple their 30% or whatever it is for their Sats).
we would have to become a regulated exchange and kyc everyone. I would prefer to sell gems and then provide a gem to sat conversion when zapping?

Primal only requires an email as KYC, and I gave it a fake one. It was not a big deal.
Do the same as primal ?
That didn’t work for me. They denied me 3 times likely because I used a proton email. Never approved. Their support wasn’t helpful either.
Oh, that sucks yeah - sounds like a paperwork headache for sure. Is that because of where the company is located, or more where you are operating?

No idea about apple but on Android when I top up my sats on primal it's an in app purchase, through my google account.
how about cashu? you let the user store sats in any mint they choose, you allow them to make an in-app purchase to buy x sats which then are minted on the user's mint when you receive the payment from apple, and you store the proofs on the app

cashu could make sense for the ingame currency, but i could also just use tigerbeetle and anonymous identifiers which would be more reliable

Add a pop up notification to the app letting people know that the appstore version of it is restricted and a link to normal version of the app.

We need different hardware! Android and Apple won't permit to run #nostr on their phones on the long run.
I hate google as much as the next guy, but that's just not true of android. If you run @GrapheneOS or murena any other degoogled android rom, there's nothing that could ever stop you running nostr apps on your phone.
But primarily, most importantly, I think that linux needs to make a come back on mobile devices, there have been attempts but none of them went as widespread as they should have imo
