Memory eternal Aaron Swartz
Rest in peace, Aaron. I hope you're proud of some of the things we're building here.

another victim of fiat society
Wow I didnt know that! Thanks for sharing!
For those who would like to know more, watch the excellent documentary, βThe Internetβs Own Boy.β
t-y 4 this note! Aaron Swartz!
Aaron Swartz was a wanker with a ginormous sense of entitlement.
His contributions were very modest. Infogami was nothing much at all and he only got into Reddit for a favor that Paul Graham owed Aaron's father.
His interest in "free books" grew out of his sense of entitlement that others owed him the fruits of their labor.
Aaron Swartz, the legend, grew out of Aaron Swartz, the realm life person, to fill a need for heroes and role models in the same culture of nincompoops that made the fictional Satoshi Nakamoto a prophet.
You are a low T loser, you will be poor forever. Muted.
Cool paragraphs nerd, now watch me infringe copyright
I agree that digital piracy is wrong. But Aaron still did nothing wrong in the JSTOR case. He was murdered by bloodthirsty feds that had zero concern for Justice. JSTOR didnβt even prosecute him, so they didnβt think he did anything wrong either.
Itβs a sad tale, indeed. I wonder how heβd feel about what became of Reddit though. Itβs become a censorship-ridden, woke cesspool. The owners mustβve made a ton on the IPO though, which Iβm sure he wouldβve enjoyed.
He openly hated where it was going before he died and would hate it now, including the IPO. He wasn't driven by money and never had anything to worry about financially from a young age because the academic system accidentally gave him recognition for his genius early on before they figured out they can't afford to let the smartest people from the recent generations get famous for being that smart.
I hope nostr has the longevity that reddit has had but stating true to its path and uncorruptable the way reddit has not.
Rip.

β€οΈ RIP to the GOATβ¦ onward
There's no proof he took his own life. The strongest evidence is his girlfriend at the time seeming to believe it completely, but that's also the point of making it look like a suicide. Inconclusive evidence to convict the man of suicide in my court.
I blame the fucking vampires, aka the politicians making up the government for his death.
hats off to him. he got me in cs
Unrelated but fun fact: for a time in his life while growing up, he would only eat food if it was completely white
so....milk and whipped cream and...?
'...he only ate white food. Only like steamed rice and not fried rice cuz that wasn't sufficiently white, and white bread and so on...'
βTook his own lifeβ π₯΄ - RIP
Such a gigantic loss...

agree! shout out Swartz! t-yGrinder
a great reminder that martyrdom isnβt the best way to accomplish your goals. the world would be a better place with him still in it.
Thank you π π«‘π. Massive respect for him & for you sharing this.
Damn sounds like an awesome guy who took on a lot
He did. He was brilliant & a fantastic public speaker. He once said something like: βI donβt want to be happy, I just want to change the world.β
It hit me so hard it brought me here & to fight for others.
Aaron Swartz's Brilliant Life and Tragic Death
He was a child prodigy, an Internet pioneer and an activist who refused to back down - even when the feds tried to break him
Swartz was whack'd. Simple as that.
Have never heard about him, seems like he came from the future to bring us new connections. Went way too early.
Fascinating. Thank you !
RIP - will not be forgotten.
We lose such talented people so young so early and instead are left with complacent ones who perhaps hold on longer than they should.
This kike swartz would have hated NOSTR cuz all his tribes kikery cannot be censored here so no you fucking goy

Disagree that he would have loved it but anyway, arrogant of you to speak for dead ppl
Makes me so fucking angry and sad at the same time... π€¬ π€¬ π€¬
To lose such talented, young and promising people like him to over-reaching and corrupt government makes me wanna bomb government buildings and kill enablers.
Many Americans agree with you, perhaps so many that the censorship of modern social media is meant to stop you from having better options than bombings, because when too many people who agree meet in one place, it becomes possible to organize and plan a more tactical resistance.
I'm not even American - I'm German - but I hate big government with every fiber of my body.
Unfortunately we don't have a 2nd amendment. That was taken away from us first by the Nazis and then by the American/Soviet "liberators".
And now communists, leftists and Greens stear us toward absolute China-like state control.
I've been to jail in East Germany as political prisoner of State Security and their RuZZian enablers so I know what I'm talking about.
...and that's why I love bitcoin and Nostr as a godsend!
2nd amendment in the US is fading and failing at its purpose, which is to reinforce freedom of speech.
Nostr might do a better job than the 2nd amendment at reinforcing free speech, in both the US and Germany
It does.
