Do you honestly think "true free expression" should be limited to citizens only in the US? It doesn't sound true or free speech to me that foreign students get their visa revoked and deported for opposing a f*cking genocide. But regardless, there are also black lists of words that government employees are not allowed to use. There's not a single serious journalist left in the Pentagon because they all refused to be censored. Book bans are skyrocketing in many states. Multiple news networks are being sued on an almost weekly basis. The FBI is being weaponized to the point where they directly threatened a Congressmen (Massie) with made up accusations because he intended to vote for releasing the Epstein files.... Last bastion of free speech my ass. It's time freedom loving US citizens stop whining about others and start doing something about their own authoritarian leadership

X is full of antifa marches, protests, signs, etc. They have been doing this for damn near 10 years now and nothing happens unless they physically attack people or property. And even then most of them are kicked without any real punishment. Short of calling for someone’s murder they can say whatever they want. you're spot on that scope matters. ze german laws about “hate” memes are baked right into the federal criminal code (§§ 86, 86a, 130 stgb), so every cop and prosecutor has to play along—a top-down blanket ban. in the u.s. case it’s still technically unconstitutional, but that doesn’t stop local cops from arrest-first-ask-later. when you end up sitting in county for 37 days over a shitpost, “isolated incident” kinda loses its soothing effect. the chilling vibe spreads either way. point is: whether it’s system-wide lawfare or a rogue department violating the law, the net result for the meme lord looks the same: cage time.

I find this worrisome. Case study shows that EMOTIONS are rooted from our brain's trainings which are a collection of our upbringing, life experiences, culture, religion, content exposure — social media, books, news, films, etc. It means each individual has different view of the world. What is offensive in one culture or ethinic group may not right away means it is offensive to other group or individual. Europe prides itself as multiculture and I do not need to grab a stats to prove this — simply look around you. Multiculture means diversity. Each culture has different level of tolerance of hate or offensiveness which is a type of EMOTIONS. Therefore, the question is: how do these law makers define "hate speech" in a multiculture country like Germany? What exactly is Germany's identity as a culture in a multi-ethnicity? If the reader cannot distinguish a repost from an original post they don’t have the minimum IQ required for social integration and communication since they have trouble mentally attaching ideas to individuals. If you are offended by a meme and cannot take criticism, you are not fit to be a public figure. Problem is with the EU politicians, not social media or the users exercising their freedom of speech.
