The "Nostr FUD" that I heard while in Riga came from people that were afraid to put in the work, IMO. The most confusing FUD was from a UX designer that told me Nostr wasn't ready for good UX design yet. Repeatedly. I'm not sure what he meant here. We're still building the tech and to focus on that? We don't have a large enough user base to waste time on it? Either way, I believe that we're at the perfect pivotal point for great UX. We need onboarding and an intuitive UX to entice the next wave of users. If we don't build it, they won't come.

its pretty easy to use these days
It is extremely difficult for a new person to come to Nostr and know what to do to get started.
Which ACTIVE accounts to follow.
Which hash tags to use to be seen.
#plebchain
#introductions (few nostr people respond to this.. and not as helpful as it could be..few follow and follow up support.
#zap Which wallet to set up and how exciting this is.
#zapathon When explained this makes new people excited usually. But few get that far.
#coffeechain And the GM, GN friendly culture here.
Adding a few more relays is helpful.
Getting people onto a nest πͺΊ nest ASAP! This is an extremely under used tool. Even Nostr people donβt use enough.. do you still have to have 3 to start a nest? This is a critical failure. Bots could start I know, people will recognize bots and leave or see and never join. Real Nostr people will go into rooms with other real people.
@Derek Ross
Nests don't get announced until 3 people join.
Yes sir. I know, I am just suggesting that this makes it a lot more work for people to open a nest.
I realize it is to keep bots from opening.
But if there are 20 nests open for example (usually only zero to 3) people can pick a real person they want to talk to.
Also it might be better for a nest to be DISCOVERABLE here: @Nostr Nests
With only one person nesting.
VS
Being announced.

Maybe keep the βannouncedβ part the same.. when 3+ people are in a nest.
The way it is currently unless someone sends a note or a DM nobody knows someone is trying to start a nest.

I've been on and off Nostr since early this year and I have no clue what a nest is.
Most donβt. Itβs one of the absolute best features of Nostr.
Search under: Nest
You will see a place that shows available nests.. usually zero active nests but get two more people at the exact same time and you can enjoy it as well.
I can explain more later. When I have more time.
Explaining that Value4Value is the key, is lost on so many who want garbage to be fed to them through all meansβ¦they simply cannot make the connectionβ¦.that Easy Button trained them.

It's hard because we've been beat to death over the past decade or more to have things spoon fed to us. We just need time to undo some damage.
I totally agree with what you two are saying. I also believe that users will mature more and more into the concept of value 4 value.

I was as guilty as the next until my 8th suspension on FBβ¦.thatβs when I looked deeper and followed the tech. It was time for #Nostr, it just hadnβt been created yet. But I promise thisβ¦YOU DONβT miss the othersβ¦The real FOMO is Nostr and the beautiful souls here. Every Morning, #CoffeeChain #Weedstr and #PlebChain ππ«Άπ»ππ§‘π«π§‘ and I feel the love! #Bitcoin is the Way!
the user must feel pain before they can know pleasure - that UX designer probably
Maybe. We already have a lot of pain points. Dude wants us to suffer π€£
It's important to identify and prove out problems wherever we find them. Only by highlighting them can we bring attention where developers/designers/artists can win glory.
Classic Fiat Behavior is wanting everything "Handed to Them and doing none of the Hard Work". It tends to roll into UX/UI.
But the thing is, this entire "so called UX/UI discipline didn't exist pre 2000". I mean I rolled my eyes at it, but you could spend an entire career just doing typography or color theory if you wanted to at Ogilvy or IDEO, really modern UX/UI in my humble opinion isn't much further than that. Its just Good Design, and
Good Design is a Simple Extension of the Art world, with precision.
The whole fussy frontend behavior I find disgusting. Its become even more common place post 2008 iPhone era, unless you grew up in the era of Green screen or Black and White text.
I mean this was GOOD UX/UI back in the day and still is for us developers who are backend.
And it STILL IS. Tell'm to get over themselves!
P.S. We backend devs can design. We just choose not to be snobbish fools about it. *wink wink*

Yes look at the UX on yakihonne and the tweetdeck clone
