What would happen if you change your name to Elon Musk π€
according to the rules the blue check should be gone, but you still have above 1M followers that automatically qualifies you for the badge.
So as long as Iβm rich and famous Iβm verified, if not I have to pay my tythe to Sir Elon for the privilege of interacting with bots and celebrities.
Nice sign me up.
nah, im not cool enough. @jack has more skin in the game than i do. im just a lowly pleb. but to be honest, i don't need a twitter bluecheck. i don't overly care about twitter as much as i used to care about it.
The back and forth on Twitter between implementing a change and then backtracking is getting annoying. Really wish heβd pick a course and stick with it.
It's strange to me that they didn't see this cluster-f coming. Assume large part of twitter's value comes from high profile people engaging in mutually beneficial tweets. Wouldn't it be obvious to figure out which accounts those are and keep them blue for free rather than trying to suck $100/year out of them.
I am likely falling into the "he doesn't know what he doesn't know" trap. I must be missing something obvious.
I learned more on blue mark removal on Bette Midler posts.
Later I learned many got their blue marks back.
Fairness came to my mind.
Now Twitter gets to pik-n-choose who gets them for free.
Are there any fairness in this?
pros VS cons?
