So, by my estimate (naive one) Nostr has lost about 50% of eyeballs since April of this year. Will be interesting to see if itβs seasonal or a trend π€

Yeah, but only the annoying and stupid ones.
Probably 90% of the loss can be attributed to it for sure
How many of those 50% were legit users, not just bots?
I was looking at metrics for legitimate users only, not bots
But law of large numbers equals normal distribution ;) says every social media company that embraces dodgy analytics for market capitalisation and share price manipulation
it was really bad. I asked myself if this would be it for me.
Exactly
Let me go to the lost and found to see if I can get them back.
I imagine the gay porn attack was too confronting for many.
Makes sense, and clients donβt want to βcensorβ anything, therefore we are at stalemate
I'm reminded of that fatboy slim song
give the poor man a break
give the poor man a break
give the poor man a
give the poor man a
give poor
give porn
gay porn
gay porn
gay porn
gay porn
gay porn
I did not see any gay porn during the gay porn attack.
I seen a lot of people complaining and making jokes about it but never actually witnessed it for myself for some reason
Depends upon which relays you use. I also didn't see it.
It's a relay issue, primarily. Those of us using better relays never see this stuff. We just see people whining about it, in the threads.
I noticed that people on our relay whined about it, less, and they all seem to still be here. At least, the active posters.
Our clients are uncompromising. We now only use our own selection of trusted relays as inboxes, as we can find everyone with them, and it saves us all a support headache. I pull the user relay lists for outboxes, only.
People who don't like that can use a different client or add in their local relays, and stream notes in over that.
Tired of building nice things and users freaking out because they're too lazy or cheap to switch the relays.
I havenβt been here myself as much recently as Iβve been busy with work and day to day life.. but it has definitely felt a lot quieter lately.
Not good. Also not surprising. sigh
From my experience on using nostr I would guess that 90% of those eyeballs were actually bot accounts.
Because the only difference I've noticed recently is less bots.
A LOT less bots.
I think this is just what happens with real people, it ebbs and flows. And the self important people don't like to recognize that they aren't really a big deal as the algorithm makes them.
i dont need an algorithm to know im not a big deal π
Samesies π
Maybe people got tired of winning.
That seems accurate based on my observations.
Hello darkness my old friend
Where did you gather this data from?
I am curious to see if there was a spike this week:
Frankly I feel the percentage is much smaller
Same there with the other new social media platforms (protocols)
I started posting on Nostr around April of this yearπ¬
