This is going to be legit cool, once we get it all straightened out. The frontend will try to maximize the stuff Realy offers, if we detect a realy service, otherwise it downgrades the feature set to an "only websocket relay" backend, or again to an "only database" backend, and again to an "only browser database" middleware. That's what I meant by local-first, backend-first, test-first architecture.

It syncs automatically, in high-bandwidth, to the "external" storage (other local relays, remote relays). That means, you can run a Realy on a computer in your LAN, and then use it to move stuff onto HTTP for all of your machines because it can pull everything and send it to you over REST. Like a Nostr Internet Beacon.
