So, after all the morning dealing with #music distributors, I'm more than mever convinced that the best way to spread my music is on the blockchain as #NFT.
Some time ago I tested Rocki, Emanate, Musicoin... and several more services but all crashed at some point or took some questionable path so everytime there's centralizations, there's pain in the ass for me. I'll keep fighting to get my music on centralized places 'cause I'd like to be heard by those who still don't know the goods of bc, but I'll concentrate 99% of my efforts on turning my (not so big) cataloge as NFTs.
Do you have any suggestions on wich blockchain use? I think one of the bests is DOT but not sure if it's the best for music. Also I like the feature of objkt.com where you can play all the nfts just with a click like a regular playlist (I guess it's a feature of this particular site, not of tezos) I have to search if there's the same feature on other chains. I'm not found it on opensea, rarible, rmrk, uniq... Do you know some?

The absolute best solution (by far) that we have come across is rss + zaps (Lightning bitcoin). Rss has been around for... idk... like >10 yrs or something?! So you know its a proven tech. It has now integrated lightning zaps (bitcoin) thus creating what's known as "podcast 2.0". But it's not limited to podcasts, it's incredible for music too.
Using a host like rssblue.com or similar (tons of options) you can easily self host your music using "rss feeds". Both audio and video in some cases. And you retain 100% control over your own content. @StevenB @Dovydas
wavelake.com is also available where you upload your content to their servers (I think? Correct me if I'm wrong @npub1tn55...99l4) and they handle most of the back end technical stuff for you.
No matter what solution you pick, listeners can access all the features through their choice of "podcast 2.0" enabled apps. @ChadF and 33 others What features? Good question.
One of the secret sauces is zap integration. Listeners can send you bitcoin directly and instantly. They can choose to send bitcoin to you sorta like a one time tip (called zaps or boosts) or they can stream bitcoin to you by the minute for as long as they're listening. They can even send you comments along with their zaps/boosts (sometimes called boostagrams).
The second secret sauce is you (and anyone who sets up their own feed) can set the splits for every track they release onto their own feed. So money (bitcoin) sent through the zaps/boosts, goes directly to your personal wallet and/or anyone else you chose to cut in on the split.
People can listen to your tracks or watch your videos and if they like what they see they'll zap/boost you some bitcoin. This feed lives forever or as long as you choose... and people can directly pay you, forever.
Many DJ's will put out regular weekly "radio shows" both live and recorded, with songs they pick out from these feeds (the collection of feeds people release is sometimes referred to as the valueverse). Anytime someone is listening to a show and your song comes up, they can zap/boost it and you get a split of the zaps/boosts along with the DJ and all the people your original track/feed was set up for. And it's tradition for the DJs to read out the previous boostagrams on the air. Everyone gets their fair share and it's all automatic, transparent and instant. @🎙UpBEATs🎶 @Kevin Bae @Sir Libre @Sir HeyCitizen @Sir Blackballs of TWiT
Groups like @npub1v5tm...c52s have put on virtual battle of the bands where several bands stream a set from home, competing for the most zaps/boosts. Viewers across the globe can watch live (and recorded) and compete to be at the top of the interactive boost leaderboard. Its called satellite skirmish and it's complete with south-park style animated MC's, incredible art animatioms and overlays, among many other cool features. @boo-bury @DuhLaurien ✌🏻👽💨 @Sir Spencer, Wolf of KC 🐺 @marykateultra
Others have also broadcasted several large live shows over the nostr protocol to fans at home. These large shows were the first of its kind and have each earned a sizeable amount of bitcoin. All of this being zap/boost enabled, all accessible from a whole bunch of different nostr apps. @PhantomPowerMedia @OpenMike @Ainsley Costello
This ecosystem is already an incredibly powerful tool for artists to organically expand their reach. It cuts out the middlemen and allows artists to take back control and ownership of their content. They no longer have someone sitting between them and their fans. And there's even more innovation to come, close on the horizon. I believe a marriage of podcast2.0 and nostr can become that "killer app" nostr has been looking for. #grownostr #music #demu
It will be even more powerful when podcast2.0 (rss + zaps) becomes integrated directly with nostr. I see it as the content layer (podcast 2.0) meets the social layer (nostr). @Adam Curry @Derek Ross 👀☝🏽Perhaps if amethyst @Vitor Pamplona or damas @jb55 can integrate a zappable rss tab that enables you to save your favorite feeds and allows you to scroll all the latest live and recorded shows, you could create a spotify/youtube killer. Assuming they have the bandwidth to integrate it, I'm sure they would need to get donations, but i believe it can be crowdsourced.
Anyways, it doesnt hurt that bitcoin is the best form of money and keeps going up in value as all other currencies plummet against it. Bitcoin is worth over $100k per bitcoin (~1,000 sats = $1) and there are a lot of headwinds pointing to it going parabolic soon.
There is already an established and thriving ecosystem here with explosive growth ahead of us.
And zero chance of a rugpull because content is self-hosted by you and bitcoin has no "core team" that owns 80% of the supply... it's a no brainer to me anyways... but what do i know about money and the music industry, I'm only just an orange-pilled record label after all...
I will have to read it twice to get all the info! Thanks, Budtender! I've been thinking about solutions for music in Nostr and now I see I was maybe kind of reinventing the wheel. This week I will study a little about podcast 2.0 and the diferent options you propose.
I want to selfhost my music, sounds and stuff and I see rssblue has this option, that's great.
Also I've been thinking about some kind of musical podcast with regular schedule and seting up a bluerss can be the way to do it.
So, as I said, I'll reread your words again in a while and this week I'll try to get the scope ans start something.
Thanks again
I’m going to just leave this here. musicsideproject.com If you need help, let me know, but it is the most sovereign and least expensive way for you to host your own music and files.
Thanks StevenB, added to my studying list for this week!
RSS has been around since the 1990's with Netscape. It's got some mileage and reliability
As for features each app is a little different with music because it's still being built out and is a small part of what PC 2.0 does.
Most lightning enabled apps let you send sats to artist and add tracks to a playlist to listen to later.
My favorite music feature is in @npub1t8cm...9gm4 when listening to a V4V music show I can click the 💙 in the upper righthand corner and it gets saved to a music playlist. This feature has been in the app for over a year and my playlist has over 300 songs on it.

Steven’s tools are great, I’ve used them to build over 100 rss feeds for friends and acquaintances.
Haha yes it'll take a couple rereading to digest it all. There is a lot there, I dont blame ya! But that's what it takes, as you do your reseqrch and get more familiar with how things work, my post will become clearer and clearer to you.

If you have a website and want to DIY your self-hosted RSS feed for music, there's a decentralized music template here:

No. Use RSS! There is @Wavlake! There are boosts and music podcasts and zaps ⚡️ on nostr and Wavlake
You can earn for your music immediately without the rug pulls of shitcoins and nfts
