I also have casually studied aeronautical history and I know we've made substantial changes to the original airplane design. Fun fact: the Wright brothers didn't study economics OR engineering, yet they still managed to change the world drastically. Did Satoshi even study economics??

Bitcoin needs to be very cautious of unintended consequences of changing the core. The more I use it, the more I don’t want anything to change. Just keep it secure and let innovation live and die as layers on top.
