I donβt ever say a word to my butcher about the cost. I just express gratitude for access to quality grass fed grass finished beef. Itβs why I get the best cuts π€πΌ
This is not seasonal. It's the perfect storm of market conditions. The Midwest after years of drought and selling off livestock are getting rain and trying to grow herd numbers at a time when beef is in demand. US herd numbers are at multi decade lows so replacements just aren't available to meet massive demand from both consumers and fellow ranchers.
I expect this will remain elevated for another 2 years minimum because those trying to take advantage of the high market are just getting in and it takes 2 full years before a heifer calf can birth their own calves.
