Everything blocks bullets. Everything blocks energy weapons. Everything shields against everything. What makes lead special is that it is cheap, dense, and clearly gave you a lot of brain damage as a kid. Though strategies for blocking high powered energy weapons is a really neat topic, check out the Youtube channel Tech Ingredients. They have two great videos testing different materials for blocking high power lasers!
