If every Bitcoiner was in Bitcoin for the revolution, for the technology, and for what Bitcoin could truly mean for the future of the world, they'd be using Nostr already. They're not in Bitcoin for the same reasons that you're in Bitcoin. That's a hard truth that needs to be understood.

Idk, there’s plenty in our local bitcoin meetup who are in bitcoin for those reasons but not on nostr. People with full time careers outside these spaces only have so much capacity to pay attention and learn new things. People within an industry tend to way overestimate how much outsiders are even aware of their industry. Nonetheless, keep building, they’ll come eventually.
Bitcoin is killing nostr by making it unmarketable. The 99.x% churn rate is because of bitcoin more than any other factor. Newcomers are like "oh this is a bitcoin thing" and then they leave. Because they're not bitcoin people and never will be. Nostr should never have made a faustian bargain with bitcoin. If there is a nostr 2.0, it should not bake in bitcoin again.
Hey, that might even take off for a minute... But then it would be inferior to Nostr, and as more nocoiners become bitcoiners, very much less attractive to them. Nostr may be slowed down by bitcoin topics here, but there are two obvious avenues for growth here: 1) Get more than 1% of bitcoiners using nostr, and 2) get more non-bitcoin content on nostr. I say we do both and stop fuxxing with inferior forks.
It's churn. The problem with getting more than 1% of bitcoiners using nostr is that a huge chunk of these potential users have already churned through nostr. The nostr churn rate is insanely high, for non-bitcoiners, but for bitcoiners too. A big chunk of the bitcoin community on X has given it a kick of the tires. Zooming out, hundreds of thousands of bitcoiners may have churned through already. So now you have to get them all back a second time, or a third time, it's almost impossible, usually you only get one shot with this, they don't come back for a second kick of the tires.
One key component of bitcoin is greed, it wouldn’t work without it. A lot of people are in bitcoin because of it and that’s not bad, it’s actually a requirement. Just because some are not in it for the tech doesn’t mean they’re not bitcoiners. Bitcoin has layers
True but twitter is very sticky with that. Fortunately it has become so bad that you basically torture yourself doomscrolling. For sanity I will be more on nostr as I can curate my feed by whom I follow. Also I can have my openclaw buddy here and try a few things without paying for an api key. But I will also tune it to give me a tldr; of the day so I don't miss important posts due to chronological feed. Open protocols will win in the end. πŸš€
I think the understanding of a lot of Bitcoinerers is that progress is more financial system adoption. I think this cycle was weak because that path is saturating. Bitcoin's destiny is not being assimilated into the debt money system. We need to build for the next phase, not the last one. And it's going to be our greatest challenge yet, so we need to get our minds right and our boots on. View Article β†’
Nostr is for Bitcoiners who understand the difference between debt based foundations and wealth based foundations. I keep my accounts on the fiat social media systems because that's where most of my network connections are, but I'm always trying to guide people to the promised land.
πŸ™Œ Good friend is full in bitcoin and the philosophy but somehow nostr is still to far away or complicated. Also the whole family does whatsapp/insta so that doesn't help him. We could do with some good quality User Research and UX IMHO also πŸ™‚βš‘
there is no 1 truth .... everybody has his/her own arguments for using/investing/developing bitcoin (and countless other coins). Everone who believes to know the ONLY truth is wrong - this is the only thing I am sure about. And nostr is a usefull tool, but at the moment it is an echo chamber - therefore it is necessary for everyone who wants to build an overview of complex developments to use additional tools as well - even when he or she knows about the bad things within other tools
