I just had a conversation with my wife about how negative and awful most of the internet and social media have become. Interactions are driven toward conflict and cruelty, or are just people stroking their own egos and vanity. Itโ€™s happening with kids and adults alike, and in fact a lot of the behavior exhibited by adults is just another form of playground bullying and high school popularity contests. But somehow, in this free and open place where nobody can be censored or banned, weโ€™re not just nicer to each other, but we celebrate each othersโ€™ differences. Sure, we poke fun and troll, but we do it out of love, not malice. We also make fun of ourselves, because, letโ€™s face it, none of us are as dumb as all of us. Is it perfect? Nope. But itโ€™s what we need most right now, and it could not have come along at a better time. Itโ€™s a beautiful mess, and it works. Good night. ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿซ‚๐Ÿค™

The high school analogy is so true. There is always a golden time where early adopters enjoy each others company for a while, this is where real value is created and the best relationships are developed. Im so pleased Nostr exists as an alternative to group think platforms.
There is a difference between being the owner of your content and just having a profile on platforms that treat you like cattle. Your npub is yours, your reputation is your responsibility, if you lose it, it will only be your fault. That makes a difference. We don't say everything we want face to face, so it shouldn't be normal to want to say everything we want virtually. There is a difference between being polite and understanding because you want to be, and obeying dictatorial rules of conduct from a platform that looks more like an animal barn.
I'm afraid that Nostr can also slip into negativity feedback loop, but I'm excited for us to fight it! - Fight against negativity by staying positive! - Take a second before replying to a triggering post. - Don't zap negative/triggering content, etc. - Carefully curate who you follow and what content shows up on your wall.
