Não quero nada que consiga me localizar nem 40%. Já basta meu português me entregando a posição.
Nah
🥲
They'd rather spend sats voting no on this poll than fund the privacy tools they're posing to care about.
Just dropped sats towards the privacy cause. Not formally a bounty but it's a start.
I just like the ideas of large numbers of people using privacy tools making it that much harder for those hunting the few that really need the protection.
One zebra isn't camouflage 100 zebras are.

Would be great. Useful to see where the app thinks we are.
No 不要
Let's see, paranoids, the question is whether you want a "sharing" option. It's not about whether you want geolocation information to be determined or not (as the ip's are already exposed).
But whether you want to be able to share it or not...🙄
Yes! Nostr is coming for Facebook marketplace, Meetup, Nextdoor, and Orange Pill App. Lets go! 🔥

Can't vote, but no
I love options. And sometimes I like to share location.
I'd like the option to drop a Google maps pin from the app.
So, people want an option to share location on Amethyst. How should we do this? I am concerned users might not know the dangers of it. Maybe we do zip code precision as default?

Why would anyone want this? 😬
I don't want this 💯
Such a bad idea!!! Nice try FBI
Nope. Not on my phone. Sorry.
NO to Doxxing!!
I just paid money for @Vitor Pamplona to not implement this 😂⚡️
does that app require location or anything like that?
We either would add a permission request popup to do it 🫤
As others have noted it should be off by default. But I can see it being useful for things like posts with pretty pictures when you're on vacation.
One approach would be to gather data (stored locally) that figures out locations where the person often is and have a "Are you sure?" prompt if they're in one of those locations. It's one thing to geotag a post in a place where you rarely are. It's another one to geotag a post with your home location.
Wtf? Who is "people". Good luck with that Voldemort.
You suck at reading the room of why we're here, what we want, and what is COOL. And you act like a douche about it. Your app has the worst user interface of all the apps. Plebstr, damus, iris, Snort, fuck even Astral...
If you want to part of what's cool about Nostr just ask or say so.
NO
Harsh. Genuine question @npub12rv6...74cg, what have you produced for the community.
I actually think the amethyst interface is pretty good.
Needed to be said.
I'm not a developer and anyone who is skilled should be said. Vitor is a skilled developer.
Like, huge kudos to his talent. But every thing I also said it true.
Fair. I haven't personally experienced that but I'm aware others may have. Just mindful of the incredible effort and dedication that has gone into making the app and no one is perfect all the time. He has a main business that was caught up in the svb saga and lost some $$ I believe.
No thank you…
The distinction must be made between publishing your current personal location and publishing the location of a thing like a business.
There is NO reason to reveal your personal location *publicly*. Literally none, unless you are lost in the mountains or dying.
It would make sense to publish your location as an ephemeral in an encrypted chat with people you trust.
Regarding non-personal locations: there are lots of reasons to share locations of places, things, and events. Please see this doscussion:

Proposal for a new nostr kind that stores GeoJSON data as the content. This kind, along with the existing p and e tag model, would make notes spati...
Sure, but should the client remove people's free choice to add their location in every post... Regardless of if it's useful or not.
It's DANGEROUS no matter who you are to do this. Clients should not give people tools to accidentally or easily endanger themselves. If someone wants to share their location they already can: just paste it into a note yourself. Nobody does this because it's a terrible terrible idea. Where on the internet do you see anyone posting their personal location constantly? This is an extremely niche use case at best.
Instagram, but that doesn’t make it not stupid

"I'm in Greece" - there's your location tag.
In seriousness though, I can see why some people might want this, but it absolutely must be off by default. I imagine most people would either see zero or negative utility to such a feature.
Absolutely not
