Labeling liberal and conservative has virtually no meaning imo
A conservative from the 90s was very pro censorship, especially on TV and radio, nothing that went against the Bible was allowed, and joining the military was of the highest honors
A liberal was all about free speech and organic food and rock and roll and anti-war
over the last 30 years it seems to have flipped

What's wild is no one seems to have any values they care about either, things just shift with the tides and they act like they always believed that π€·ββοΈ

It's like people don't think for themselves at all they just want to be on a team

It's a big problem. 80% of society only know how to be led. Only exist within the context of their "team". The powers that be call them "useless eaters".
Interestingly, before liberalism, their energies were harnessed and directed towards societal good.

It's more that the terms are broken, especially as the terms cross borders, cultures and languages.
Typically on a 2D chart they use the terms "authoritarian" and "libertarian" instead.
Add a third axis for social liberalism/conservatism and you've got something that makes sense.
Liberals went from "freedom to" to "freedom from"
Conservatives went from "conserving ideals" to "conserving power"
They stayed true to their labels, but the oddballs are progressives, who generally promote regressive policies. They need to pick a better name.
You have to think of it more like a social media algorithm. What kind of content can you throw out there to enrage people the most? Good, now you have your platform for the next election cycle.
Basically, just mob rule with suits.
I heard someone argue that conservatives are just slow option liberals. Theyβre all moving toward the same thing, but at different speeds. Todayβs conservative is yesterdayβs liberal.
