> Bitcoin’s 4th halving is estimated to occur on the 20th of April, at block 840,000. > After each halving, the amount of new bitcoin that miners receive is reduced by half. In this upcoming halving, the block reward is reduced from 6.25 BTC to 3.125 BTC. The halving will happen 33 times in total, roughly every 4 years (210,000 blocks) until the year 2140 when we reach just under Bitcoin’s supply limit of 21 million. Article: ******* The chart below doesn’t show price, it shows in red the disinflationary rate of issuance (aka how many new bitcoins are being issued into the market), and it shows in gold the total supply of Bitcoin available, which will cap at 21 million bitcoins. (You can own a fraction of a bitcoin, you don’t have to buy or sell or send an entire bitcoin.) As you can tell, Bitcoin’s inflation rate is steadily decreasing. No other asset class does this, and I believe that if the decentralized Bitcoin network can reliably continue this, it will become the most trusted asset in the world. Let’s pay attention to what happens around April 20, or more precisely, block # 840,000 in its public blockchain ledger. (The internet memes will be lit if Bitcoin is trading at $69k and halving day lands on 4/20 🙄🤣.) None of us know when the Fed will next increase or decrease interest rates, none of us know how many new dollars will be released into the system over the next 1, 5 or 100 years - but we DO know Bitcoin’s issuance schedule and total supply at any point in the future with Bitcoin’s transparent, rules-based monetary system. I’m gradually opting out of the dollar system and into the Bitcoin system, as I gradually save more and more BTC. For me, this is not a quick trade, it’s a steady, long-term savings strategy into a new asset class that cannot be debased and devalued like the dollar has been and will be. Historically, Bitcoin’s price has soared more than 4X in the year following each halving. There is a mechanic element and a psychological element to this. 1. The halving causes a supply shock, as suddenly miners have half as much bitcoin to sell into the market to cover their operational costs. 2. Following supply and demand, this causes price to rise. Since Bitcoin’s supply is programmatically determined by its source code, its supply is more inelasitic than other commodities, and this causes price to soar. Humans tend to notice when a price is soaring, and since most people don’t yet own bitcoin, it always causes new people to adopt bitcoin, which causes price to soar even more. If this next halving cycle is similar to the past 3, you can wait until after you see the price soaring later this year, or maybe you will want to start buying now. Obviously, none of us know how the future will unfold, but for many of us who understand the basic math of the dollar system and the bitcoin system, and apply basic game theory, and see global adoption continuing to increase, this makes us bullish mid-term and long-term. There are four services I recommend to buy Bitcoin. Each of these a) have good security, b) good reputation/history, c) an option to set up a recurring purchase of Bitcoin (daily, weekly, bi-weekly or monthly), or d) allow you to withdraw your Bitcoin from their custody to your own custody if you want. 1. You should learn more about bitcoin, it’s a new asset class with a $1.3 trillion market cap, and growing. image
Curiously, in Colossians 1, Jesus is simultaneously called “the firstborn of all creation,” (v15) and “the firstborn from the dead.” (v18) This reminds me of the First and Last Adam that Paul writes about in ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭15‬:‭ ”For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive.” ‬ ‭ The fullness of God dwelled inside him (v19) and Jesus perfectly executed God’s plan to reconcile mankind back to God (v20). This is the story of creation, destruction and re-creation. All things were created through him and for him (v16), and he is making all things new. The “image of the invisible God” (v15) came to earth and made “peace by the blood on his cross.” (v20) ✝️ He is before all things and now holding all things together. (v17) He is not just head of the church (v18), but he is over all rulers and authorities. (v16) He is preeminent. (v18) He is King of all.
