Another shutdown ripple effect: #military commissaries that Service members and retirees depend on for cheaper groceries. Many retirees remain close to military bases because of benefits like commissaries. Commissaries sell almost $5B in groceries annually.

I was just reading that Moderna just presented a paper at an Intl Soc. for Vaccines conference on a new mRNA vaccine that is in phase 2 trials which has broad effectiveness against orthopoxviruses - those are the causative agents of smallpox, cowpox, mpox, and a bunch of other viruses. This is HUGE. Meanwhile RFKJr. and his anti-science squad has spread a ton of disinformation about mRNA (and other) vaccines and has ended U.S. govt funding for the technology. This is what we get from republicans, lies and death. #science #virology #vaccines #mRNA
Ok, that's funny. #military image
“Supercharging this law enforcement agency and at the same time you have oversight being eliminated?...This is very scary.” “ICE, their secret police, is their tool...Once they have that power, which they have now, there’s nothing stopping them from using it against citizens.” #ICE #DHS #fascism #SecretPolice
The House has been out of session for a month. There must be some very amazingly horrible stuff in the Epstein files. This isn't about healthcare. It's about keeping one new member from being sworn in who will sign the thing to get the Epstein stuff from DOJ. All this is happening to protect the most heinous child sex trafficking ring in American history and it's the Republicans' main mission right now because Trump was in there for like 10-15 years.
So we made it to about 2% of the population out protesting yesterday and it made Trump insecure enough to post AI slop of him shitting all over the American people from the sky. We need to get over the 3.5% mark to test the idea that at 3.5% change happens.
I had a good time at the #NoKings protest. A real mix of ages, lots of old folks. Quite a few blow-up animal suits. Lots of community support based on the honking. Many honks from semi-truck drivers, which was a little surprising.
The discovery of the signal happened purely by chance. Tilley regularly monitors satellites from his home in British Columbia as a hobby. He was working on another project when he accidentally triggered a scan of radio frequencies that are normally quiet. "It was just a clumsy move at the keyboard," he said. "I was resetting some stuff and then all of a sudden I'm looking at the wrong antenna, the wrong band." #military #DOD #NSA #USSPACECOM There goes 10 years of black budget to a hobbyist accident 😂 https://www.npr.org/2025/10/17/nx-s1-5575254/spacex-starshield-starlink-signal
