High schooler worries LLM use is making classmates unable to think and perform in the world after school. "I am concerned about what will happen as the short-term solutions presented by chatbots become the only ones that people know how to pursue—especially beyond the classroom. If we keep leaning on AI to sidestep pressure or deadlines, what happens when the tools aren’t there? In the real world, chatbots cannot hold the powerful to account in the way an investigative reporter does, through relentless interviews and vetting hard-to-find information. They cannot perform open-heart surgery or ballet. Many of us are so accustomed to outsourcing that we’re dulling the very instincts that we need to prevail in life: grit, critical thinking, and the ability to function smoothly under stress." "If chatbots have made school easier to get through, they are also making school equally as hard to grow out of. The technology is producing a generation of eternal novices, unable to think or perform for themselves." #LLM #AI Original: Archive: https://archive.is/TAb6y

The "Department of War" website has this image (left) purporting to show locations of U.S. military around the world. These guys aren't even pretending to be competent. Yes sure we have tons of bases in Russia & China. Western Europe, nope. Even if they were counting the presence of USMC guards at U.S. embassies, the map wouldn't look like that at all. Kegseth's morons could've just checked Wikipedia (right)
It's hilarious that as of today there's no such thing as SECDEF, now we have a SOW 🐷

Gov. Maura Healey announced Thursday that the Department of Public Health updated its vaccine administration policy to permit the DPH commissioner to determine which routine vaccines can be administered by pharmacists in Massachusetts. Pharmacists were previously limited to only the vaccines recommended by the CDC's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, which led CVS and Walgreens to not offer COVID-19 vaccines in the state. The change to vaccine administration policy follows a standing order issued last week by DPH Commissioner Dr. Robbie Goldstein, which allowed pharmacies to provide COVID-19 vaccines to residents aged 5 and older. Additionally, the governor said that the Division of Insurance and the Department of Public Health will require insurance carriers to cover vaccines recommended by the DPH. The governor's office said this bulletin makes Massachusetts the first state to guarantee insurance coverage of vaccines recommended by the state. #PublicHealth #vaccines

Hedge fund billionaire Ray Dalio has warned Donald Trump’s America is drifting into 1930s-style autocratic politics — and said other investors are too scared of the president to speak up. The Bridgewater Associates founder told the Financial Times that “gaps in wealth”, “gaps in values” and a collapse in trust were driving “more extreme” policies in the US. “I think that what is happening now politically and socially is analogous to what happened around the world in the 1930-40 period,” Dalio said. ... “The great excesses that are now projected as a result of the new budget will likely cause a debt-induced heart attack in the relatively near future,” he said. “I’d say three years, give or take a year or two.” Original: Archive: https://archive.is/vkOwD
Words matter. Department of War, Department of Defense. I was a Cold War soldier. Our mission was explicitly defense. When I was stationed in Germany we were concerned with defending Europe against a Soviet invasion. Today we have Putin's pliable silly putty man in the White House, and Trump's war is Putin's war: it's a war against Americans who believe in the idea of American democracy. #military #DOD #Trump #treason
