Und wieder ein Fall von „wenn Dein Haushaltsgerät die Cloud benötigt, gehört es Dir nicht und es sammelt Daten für den Hersteller“: iRobot, der Hersteller von Roomba hat Insolvenz angemeldet und die Reste bekommt der Zulieferer/Originalhersteller in China. Ich verstehe jeden, der keine Haushaltsarbeiten machen will (ich bin faul!), aber Leute, ernsthaft? Eine Küche, Wohnung, Heizung, Kühlschrank, der in der Cloud bzw. an China hängt?

Steve Jobs once said “technology should either be beautiful or it should be invisible”. He said nothing about being required to use an app where a website will do, technology spying on you from your car to the TV set, being offered help by pseudo-AI that is not helpful at all and having to endure tech bros that think society is just another pissing contest for the billionaire club.
I have to admit that I thought for a long time human explorers in space were sensible, but the last 20 years taught me otherwise. Then I stumbled over this piece, two years old and still gold and on point. As a bonus, you‘re going to read gems like „Fourth graders writing to Santa make a stronger case for an X-Box than NASA has been able to put together for a Mars landing“ and he actually proves it.
