My next highlight of the #39c3 #fahrplan: A super timely and important talk by @katesim about her work on children's rights online, and how the current child safety debates pitch children's rights and digital rights against each other in all the wrong ways while failing to provide any meaningful support to children and adults alike. So much to learn from her work for all the policy debates currently brewing in the EU and Germany:
Listening to Jac sm Kee at the 8 year anniversary of @npub1y8k6...05lv Yes, the many projects, initiatives and visions coming from open source and open knowledge movements give hope, even in these times where activists are under pressure and progressive donors face scrutiny. And: "most of our work is composting the leftovers of colonialism" - we try to change the system while working with what it chooses to give us. image
TFW you're certain that a part from your interview gets cut out, but it actually makes it - woohoo! Q: Women use AI significantly less often than men. (...) Who is responsible for this development? A: Women using AI less often than men is perhaps simply a sign of rationality, as many of the promises of the AI boom are completely exaggerated. Bwahaha...

I had expected this result after the election, not before: The conservative-right CDU/CSU succeeded with the votes of the AfD and the Liberals (who left the coalition last year) to ratify a massive ramp-up of hateful, racist, anti-migration and carceral measures. This is unbearable.
