The music video I made for tAngerinecAt's "Grief" has just been released!
Taking the patterns their music made in my head, and putting them on the screen, took months: I'm so glad to see it.
You could easily turn those England flag roundabouts into the anarchy symbol

white supremacy, body horror
In today's episode of "what the hell is wrong with white people?": today I discovered this 1887 article about a doctor who wore shoes made of Black people's skin.
Note that the reporter thought it was appropriate to smile and make a joke about it.
I uploaded it and transcribed it to add it to the "Human trophy collecting" article on Wikipedia:

I want to run an(other) account which posts pictures every so often on social media.
Up until now I've always built or used separate scripts for each network. I think it would be more sensible to post to just one, and use crossposting gateways to reach the others.
Can people suggest which one I should start with?
(Networks I'd like to use: Mastodon, Threads, Bluesky, Facebook, Tumblr)

Let people cry!
I'm no fan of the Chancellor, but: there are any number of non-work reasons why someone might be in tears at work. Attacking her for it is pretty damn low.
The Tory spokesman getting it wrong: "a 'personal matter' doesn't really clear it up⦠you normally tell people what the personal matter is."
The SNP getting it right: "I don't know why the chancellor was upset in the chamber today⦠seeing another person in distress is always very difficult, and we are wishing her well."
If #PalestineAction is proscribed, it will be an offence to:
- say things in public showing you support PA
- β¦or that other people should support PA
- wear or carry a symbol of PA in public
- post stills or video supporting PA
- arrange or attend a meeting to discuss tactics
- β¦or which will be addressed by anyone belonging to PA
- raise money for PA activities

An Act to make provision about terrorism; and to make temporary provision for Northern Ireland about the prosecution and punishmen...
I would appreciate some Wikipedia-help with cropping out capital letters in the Songbook of Zaghere van Male. There are over a thousand of them. I've done a few hundred, but I'd like to share the work. It's pretty simple work if you can use a basic graphics editor.

Historical murder, modern transphobia
"When archaeologists dig up your skeletonβ¦"
Stop. Pamela Walton gives the lie to that whole idea. Her story needs to be told more.
She was murdered in 1988. Her body was found four weeks later. The autopsy determined that she was a cis woman who had given birth at least once. But they couldn't identify her.
In 2015, some cold-case investigators ran a DNA test and discovered she had XY chromosomes. Without the knowledge that she was trans, they would never have found out her name.

I have an "information radiator", i.e. a monitor on the wall that displays stuff. It's a homebrew web application, written in ordinary JavaScript; it has permission to make http requests to anything. It lives behind a NAT firewall.
I want a particular server to be able to ask it to display a message. Obviously I could roll my own protocol with Ajax, but I'd rather use something standard. Back in the day I'd have used XMPP. What do people use now?
