Berkeley can close Ohlone park encampment, new ruling says
The judge denied the union's request to block the city's action, citing the city's efforts to work with campers and lack of established legal basis for the union's arguments. The city had planned to close the encampment in May, and the judge's ruling requires the city to provide 72 hours' notice before removing campers. The case is set to return to court in July.
The judge also denied a request by the Berkeley Homeless Union to order both sides to sit down to work out a settlement.

Berkeley skate park renamed to honor Terrence McCrary Jr.
The renaming ceremony took place over the weekend, with local officials and Terrence's family and friends in attendance. Terrence was an innocent bystander who had no connection to the violence that broke out that night. He was a youth mentor and counselor with the city's recreation department and loved art, fashion, and skateboarding. The skate park was renamed to keep Terrence's legacy and memory alive.
