In 1783, in the French skies of Annonay, the first man-driven hot air balloon flies.
On board its inventors: the Montgolfier brothers. During the flight, which lasts 10 minutes, the balloon reaches an altitude of about 2000 meters. The great success of the enterprise contributed to the appointment of the brothers as extraordinary members of the Paris Academy of Sciences, while their father, Pierre, received from King Louis XVI the hereditary noble title de Montgolfier.
