I know, I know. I shouldn’t be using Meta products but every so often I enjoy throwing out some bait to gauge where people are at. Every so often I have constructive dialogue with someone who’s intrigued to learn.
A veteran activist posted a video about a general strike happening and how those new to resisting the state could begin finding a purpose. I laid out the line and it did not disappoint… please enjoy.
🤙: Study Bitcoin, my friends.
🔴⚒️: Nah, study the Yuan.
🤙: Studying the Yuan is a great way to learn about Bitcoin.
🔴⚒️: Why would we learn about Bitcoin? To uncover the corruption and surveillance of our future financial system?
🤙: To learn about economics and the application of decentralized, open source software. But no one’s forcing you. Consider that you’ve asked a question on the most centralized and surveyed platform in history.
🔴⚒️: There is nothing decentralized about it. You are drinking the Koolaid and obviously haven’t taken your own advice. Digicoins are all a scam and there isn’t anything legitimate backing its value, except for the US Dollar which is a fiat currency… PASS. You wanna learn economics? Study Marx, Lenin, Mao… Bitcoin is a technofacists wet dream.
🤙: Sure. Yet none of them were alive during the age of computers. I don’t see where using Meta products aligns with your argument. I agree “digicoins” and “crypto” are a scam.
🔴⚒️: Because there aren’t alternatives with 50% of the population on their platforms… This is why you should read them they talk about monopolies. You know those things that are bad for the social political economy? Lol man…
🤙: Sounds like you’ve chosen your path. Good luck on here.
🔴⚒️: My path is that of liberation from money, class, and state. An idea that struck the heart of Billions around the world.
🔵: Lol Bitcoin people that still think it has any hope of doing anything revolutionary have to be some of the most special type of delusional.
For what it’s worth I’m saying this as a programmer that just (thankfully) stopped working for a crypto company late last year after five years straight of working in the blockchain industry.
🤙: Generally speaking, Bitcoiners do not view “crypto” or “blockchain industries” as innovative, rather exploitive.
🔵: 👍 Great. Can you explain why you think Bitcoin has anything to do with what OP is talking about in this video?
🤙: Yes. OP is shedding light on the national strike and how folks can begin to be involved in the resistance. Often overlooked on this platform is how open source software developers are challenging big tech with innovations in decentralization and cryptography. Bitcoin is a good entry to begin learning about these concepts which is why I recommend studying it. For many, choosing to save in Bitcoin is a passive protest against the Federal Reserve and oppressive banking systems - choosing to use Bitcoin is a step against the walled gardens big tech has built upon us. It’s not going to solve the worlds problems on its own, but certainly going to help us take steps in another direction. The open source nature of these projects allows innovation and contribution not possible elsewhere.
🟡: LMFAOOOOO
🤙: What’s funny about reading a book?
🟢: Nah I already read fiction…
🤙: Right on. “The Crypto Anarchist Manifesto” by Timothy May (1988) is a non fiction piece I enjoyed reading.
I AM THANKFUL FOR YOU ALL
