Good evening from Bitcoin Chama? The women chama recently started a weekly merry go round of 21 members saving in Bitcoin led by @sylviaMonyangi and Mercy to make good use of the sats they earn. Each member of the group contributes sats and at the end of the week, they use the sats to buy household items for one member of the group and continue onto the next member. They started with Janet. So Last week, their contributions managed to buy a table and a few items for Janet and her family. (Janet is the lady who Silvia had paid school fees for her kid for 2 years btw : x.com/i/status/19487… ) The table was bought from a local workshop and paid with in Bitcoin. Good morning From Bitcoin Chama? We had a tourist from the UK visit our community. He is not a bitcoiner. He was really surprised when he found people in rural Kisii Kenya know about bitcoin and are transacting daily with it. He couldn't even believe bitcoin could be used to make small transactions, so we showed him by buying him a soda and paying with bitcoin at a local shop. We are still early. Bitcoin is money. Update: Guess who the new goat farmers in town? We have had a few adventurous weeks, visited some new places, met some amazing people and amazing culture too! We have been goat hunting in our local communities. I've never known goats are this hard to find. After several attempts on homesteads and local goat markets but all in vain, we decided to go to The Maasai Lands for goats. Maasai land is not very far from our community. (about 1.5hour drive from my community) We bought 5 goats which we all paid for through Bitcoin via Tando. Most of the people we interacted with became very curious about Bitcoin, others insecure about the money we sent and Zero onborders. The youth who will be taking care of the goats will be earning his salary in Bitcoin. Future returns from the goats will also be saved in Bitcoin on Machankura clans. To also increase Maranga's earnings, the wastes collected from the goats will be sold to The women Chama farm for sats! We are building a self reliant Bitcoin community on Bitcoin!
Good morning #Nostr? Helena bought a bar of soap from shop in our local community and paid with Bitcoin using Machankura wallet! More people are using Bitcoin more on a daily basis in our community, especially women. That's because, most of them are earning in sats. They are earning in sats, saving in sats and spending in sats #SPEDN #Bitcoinkwawote
Good evening from Bitcoin Chama? The best thing about our community is, we don't have a lot of shops in our community and Most people buy their products from one shop in our local community. This makes it easier to onboard more people and it is easier for people normalize using Bitcoin as a medium of exchange. Mercy is almost living on a Bitcoin standard in Rural Kenya on a feature phone. Today, she bought 2 tins of maize for milling and paid with Bitcoin using Machankura wallet! #Bitcoinkwawote #SPEDN
Good evening from Bitcoin Chama? We started a chicken project for our community youth chamas a few days ago. We are finalizing construction the coop. We rewarded the youth at the end of the day some sats for using Machankura wallet. We are building a self reliant Bitcoin community in rural Kenya! #Bitcoin #Bitcoinkwawote
