Teaching my kids about exponential growth.....
I told her she can have $50 if she can complete the task. All she has to do is put one grain of rice on the first square, then double it on each of the 64 squares. It starts by seeming trivial, but by the final squares the total has exploded to over **18 quintillion grains** (more than the number of grains of rice on earth).
At first she thought I was testing her grit/perseverance. She wasn't super pleased that "I had tricked her and wasted her time" but I really hope the concept sticks with her.
