Cold shower: The mood effect is real!
I just watched this video from After Skool (I love After Skool BTW):
Andre Huberman discusses "The Optimal Morning Routine," which includes natural light, exercise + temperature regulation to enhance overall well-being.
I thought the effects of cold showers were really interesting: taking a cold shower or ice bath (one to three minutes at 45°F) can elevate core body temperature by cooling the skin's surface (if you make the surface of your body cold, your core body temperature goes up). This results in a prolonged release of dopamine + epinephrine, which can enhance mood + even help with addiction, as noted by Anna Lemke in her book "Dopamine Nation."
According to Huber, the amount of pleasure that you eventually experience is directly related to how much pain you experience. I like!
What's your moring routine? Is Andre Huberman on nostr? š š§
