When nostr first emerged I was very excited about the idea that notes could be published to a relay and that switchibg relays created new feeds.
That way you could have topics, silos, secret groups and also the biggest was that everyone would have their own infrastructure for their "platform".
The way I saw it, a "Joe Rogan" like persona could have spun up his own relay and client and it would be the "Experience" he wanted it to be for his followers.
Instead everyone was so concerned about becoming twitter 3.0 and censorship ( as if I don't have side conversations in real life that every person in the world doesn't hear even if I am not trying to hide it) that the relay model became gossip/outbox.
I know there is jumble and other relay based clients but the original spark I saw was that by giving everyone a chance to host their own worlds we could have all built out a multiverse of content that everyone from us lonesome weirdos to CBS would host them.
Get in the pool, the water is nice.
