Last year I went to a vinyl record giveaway and while I was crate digging, the store played a track that made me stop in my tracks. As soon as the record ended, I asked if that album was part of the giveaway, and they handed it to me. I love discovering fantastic jazz vocalists, and when I started digging into Tony Lee Scott’s history, wow, there are so many stories in the music industry that people have forgotten or overlooked. Her story alone is incredibly intriguing.

Currently spinning Ironhorse’s self-titled debut. Fun fact, the band featured Randy Bachman, best known as a founding member of The Guess Who and Bachman-Turner Overdrive. Ironhorse only released two albums, but this debut honestly isn’t that bad. Solid late 70s rock that deserves a little rediscovery.

Now spinning Art Garfunkel’s Watermark. When you see a promo copy from a legacy artist in the dollar bin, you pick it up. The original version of this album reportedly only existed as test pressings and a handful of commercial copies and was briefly available in 1977. This promo is the revised version that added what the label thought would be the hit single, “What a Wonderful World,” with Paul Simon and James Taylor harmonizing. Pretty interesting tidbit.

Currently spinning Linda Ronstadt’s Heart Like a Wheel. As a collector, the condition of the media is just as important as the quality of the music. When I saw this pristine copy, sleeve and disc, of a 1974 pressing of one of Linda’s best albums for three dollars, I couldn’t resist.
