Last time I met with my brother he was "amazed" by how an "AI" in his new smasnug phone could erase objects in the picture. He's completely non-technical, and he was convinced that AI is a "next big thing". Fast-forward to 8 months later: He admitted that every single question he asked AI about got him an incorrect response, that it's wasting his time and he prefers to just... use a regular search to find the information. He said "you were right sis" and agreed with every single point I made. If even non-technical people are realizing it, bubble will definitely burst in 2026 (and it's not going to be pretty for US economy). But hey, at least we'll get a lot of cheap RAM and SSDs :blobcat3c:
My train got delayed today so I pulled out my laptop and started playing a game. When it was time to get off the train I started panicking because I couldn't save (seems like you can only save at determined points in VA-11 Hall-A) but had to go, so I closed the lid and threw it in the backpack. Not only system had suspended without any issues, when I pulled the laptop out at my brother's place... game resumed as well and I could continue playing. Just like that. One of my friends owns a handheld running windows and he's upset with how buggy the suspend is, as it takes forever to suspend and games tend to crash... I'm really impressed with how far we've come with power management and suspend in mainline Linux. Not only this laptop lasts longer in Linux than it did with stock firmware and ChromeOS, it also suspends without any issues whatsoever.
