If we want Bitcoin to succeed, we need to use it as a payment method AND as a unit of account.
The community needs to agree on a symbol for sats. I suggest the lightning bolt:
₿1 = ⚡︎ 100,000,000
Pros of the ⚡︎ symbol:
- easy and fast to hand write
- recognizable for Lightning and Ecash payments
- symbolizes speed and efficiency
- clear distinction between ₿ and ⚡︎
- already in UTF-8 and not being used for other purposes
Think scale: in a hyperbitcoinized world, the symbol will be written multiple times a second. How much time will be saved by writing ⚡︎ instead of ₿?
