My very poignant and clear example for how it felt when decentralized social media people told us it was okay that we invited Meta to be a part of the decentralized social media club. I probably shouldn’t write after 9pm

- Whiteness isn't real so it doesn't matter - The Fediverse is just a protocol so it doesn't matter - I'm "whitewashing" the existence of POCs by pointing out that mastodon is disproportionately white - the problem is I don't know how to use mastodon - being racist doesn't "erase the good people do" - saying "white" is racist - I'm hostile - I need to be on time out - I'm MAGA - I'm uneducated - I'm racist Just can't figure out why #Mastodon can't make progress on matters of race. 🫠🙃

Just the other day I was thinking how much the presence of POC are missed on this platform. And then I scroll the comments of a post talking about systemic oppression and I'm reminded why #Mastodon is 99% white. How is it that so many of you are expert coders but haven't read a single book by an activist? How is it that you haven't accidentally come across even a quote to spark curiosity? This is especially concerning for Americans. We're facing fascism and still at "I don't see color"

How many generations do you think it would take for the average person to forget that local computation is possible? That the cloud wasn't an inevitability but an artificial restriction, forcing all personal computers to tether to it. Then, how many generations before we forget that the cloud is just computers and technology? And we believe computation and AI etc come from the gods? Like Greek mythology. I'm writing a short story 🙃
