I used to go alone, as a tiny 5'3 woman, to meet randos off Craigslist to sell and barter with precious metals. where there's a will (and some weirdos) there's a way.

Centralized social media is like being unarmed. If governments come after them and shut them down or ask to remove profiles or posts there's nothing I can do. Decentralized protocols, like Nostr, are like being armed. It doesn't prevent governments coming after you or the platforms, but you have tools to fight back. And, the fight will come so prepare for that. Some people will go down, but hopefully more will stand up and keep it going. That's the difference, here you are armed. Not safe, but empowered.
