When the AfD comes to power, I wonder which Germans will finally speak up, or preferably act, about these so-called “problems in the city landscape.” I still hope to meet them. So far, most seem far more comfortable looking away. Oder nicht? #noafd #germany #farright #WirSindDasStadtbild
#rassismus #WirSindDasStadtbild #deutschland
I’m convinced that if most Europeans truly understood how high their living standards are, they’d fight harder to protect what’s been achieved. (For context: I grew up in a country that was once colonized by a European power.) #Europe #FarRight #Democracy #Disinformation
The White House just joined BlueSky. What does that mean? It means BlueSky is gaining political traction, especially among American activists and the wider public. If the Fediverse ever reached the same level of attention, they’d likely try to undermine it too. Maybe that day will come. #BlueSky #Fediverse #USPol
I have installed around ten apps to stay in touch with my contacts. My preferred one is still @npub1rkw6...5q62, despite an issue I discovered yesterday. I recently tried Delta Chat (@Delta Chat ) and found it simple, with a clean and pleasant interface. Lately, I’ve been thinking about starting a group chat for practicing German. I even created a Matrix group, but now I’m wondering if Delta Chat might be a simpler option. #DeltaChat #Signal #decentralization image
I've been using @npub1rkw6...5q62 as my main communication app with family, friends and other contacts for about 10 years. Should I consider using @The Matrix.org Foundation more often? #Signal #AWS #technofascism #Matrix
My impression is that the posts I make about more technical topics tend to get the most interaction here on the #Fediverse. I don’t often post about my daily work as a software developer, but I truly wish decentralized social media will succeed. In my view, that will only happen if non tech-savvy people join... and stay. I have a wide range of interests: science, philosophy, society, history, politics, cinema, music, and so on. Yet, I often feel it’s hard to find people here who focus on these areas. Take #science or #journalism, for example. Many scientists and journalists have joined Mastodon at some point, but when you visit their profiles, you often see that they haven’t posted in years. Should we blame them for deciding, say, to move to #Bluesky instead of staying here and talking mostly to the dominant (tech-oriented) group? I don’t think so. I’d really love to meet and exchange ideas with more people interested in these topics from different perspectives, especially beyond the tech world. That’s something I enjoy doing in real life too, in a society whose language I’m still learning. #philosophy #history #politics #music #society #decentralization
Why do you think BlueSky is attracting a more diverse group of people? Is it mainly because it’s still relatively centralized and therefore easier to use? Or are there other factors at play? #BlueSky #Fediverse
What will happen to the actual #Fediverse if Bluesky really succeeds as the mainstream federated social media platform with other interoperable apps? #ATProtocol #ActivityPub #SocialMedia #BlueSky
When I was a physics student, Bertrand Russell's ideas were a guiding light for me, and they also helped me improve my English skills. Yesterday, I tried reading a book I had once given to my father, and I was astonished by how much I could understand compared to German philosophical texts. I lived in Germany for nearly nine years and in Italy for about a year. What a huge difference when your native language is also a Romance language. #Russell #Language #Italian #German #Philosophy image
