Rangia cuneata (Gulf wedge clam) was found along the Gulf of Mexico coast from NW Yucatan to southern FL, but since the 1950s has been invasive to the Atlantic Coast. Millions of tons have been mined from Indigenous shell middens & dredged from waterways & lakes for roads, parking lots & work bases. #archaeology #shell
