🙋‍♂️ Adoption of decentralised tech - why isn't it happing quicker? (not specifically a nostr network effect question). Genuinely wanting to know. I'm late to the game, I've been aware of it, learning about it and implementing it for about 6 mths. It's been relatively easy, most of the tech is great, free and very accessible. My mother would struggle with it tbh, but my mates should be all over this (I am in the process of explaining my knowledge of it to them). Is it apathy and convenience on peoples behalf? Or is it a lack of publicity and money on the tech side? Or is it big tech monopolies? I'm assuming it's a combination of the above plus a whole lot more. #asknostr #nostr #plebchain
Yo @YakiHonne could bookmarking replies be a thing? I mean is it easy to add? It's a little niche and wouldn't be massively used, but a few times I have found myself wanting to reply to something days or weeks later with a 'thank you' or a link. Just a thought, no biggy.
Hey @GHOST, NextDNS, what an absolute winner. - Simple to setup across ipad, android and desktop. A tiny bit trickier on the router (for a novice), bit all round very accessible. - Even easier to update allow/deny lists, tweak settings, duplicate profiles. Q: is my understanding right that chosing a DNS provider is simply a shifting of trust? NextDNS come across as very open, transparent and trustworth. Encrypted with DoH + no logs. So, im convincing myself that limited metadata is genuinely retained, coupled with a VPN and its plugging the leak fairly effectively.
I recently compared my son buying skins and pickaxes in fortnite to me as a kid buying stickers or pogs back in the day. But actually I owned those things, I had self-custody over them. 100%. He can, and will ultimately lose access to them. I'm very happy with him being and spending online, just as I'm not a hording dull old fart. The point being, ownership, offline of anything of importance that is naturally based online is essential. I assume this isnt currently possible on fortnite and/or many other online areas other than crypto amd nfts. Are crypto wallets the blueprint for this? This is me learning. Please feel free to chip in and school me. #asknostr #nostr #plebchain image
he's 12, I fucking love him image
Anyone got recommendations for crypto wallets that are privacy focused, can do swaps that don't involve going via a CEX with KYC, and that offer an onramp (again no KYC) for fiat. I know it depends on the coins, but so far I've only found Cake, Unstoppable and Best Wallet.
